WASHINGTON - For only the third time in the 21-year history of the Herb Wegner Memorial Awards, the National Credit Union Foundation has named two winners in a single category, with Rita Haynes and Tom Sargent both winning the individual achievement award.
Haynes is the CEO of Faith Community United CU in Cleveland, where she has instituted payday loan alternatives, second-chance auto loans, efforts to prevent foreclosure.
Sargent is the CEO of First Tech CU in Beaverton, Ore., and is being recognized for his efforts to raise funds for Credit Unions For Kids, which supports Children's Miracle Network and children's hospitals.
