KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The inaugural TNMIC Conference took place here last week, drawing more than 80 credit union young professionals from across Tennessee, organizers said.
TNMIC, established in 2015 by the Tennessee Credit Union League, aims to give credit union young professionals across Tennessee a louder voice.
The two-day conference, April 20-21, featured sessions on leadership development, personal branding, industry trends and also included a panel of young professionals sharing knowledge of the numerous educational opportunities that are available to the group, such as SRCUS, Crash the GAC and more.
Matt Monge, a nationally-recognized leadership, culture and future of work expert, served as the conference keynote. Monge, who started his career as a high school teacher and coach before transitioning to the corporate world, focused his message on the ways for young professionals to make their organization a better place to work — ultimately empowering them to become more fully human.
"Cultivating and retaining new talent to be the next leaders of the credit union movement is extremely important. Working with some of the brightest minds and future leaders in the state collaboratively, we developed TNMIC," Fred Robinson, president and CEO of the Tennessee Credit Union League, said in a statement. "TNMIC is Tennessee's Young Professional Group of tomorrow's credit union leaders. Their first annual meeting was an overwhelming success and the enthusiasm for credit unions was electrifying. I believe the future of credit unions in Tennessee will be in good hands."
