InterLutions signs two credit unions to I-Care

InterLutions -- a credit union service organization offering business solutions and run by Muskego, Wis.-based Corporate Central Credit Union -- on Monday said it has added two credit unions to its collaborative employee benefits initiative, I-Care.

The two CUs are $1.7 billion Educators CU, Mount Pleasant, Wis., and $1.2 billion KEMBA Financial Credit Union, Gahanna, Ohio.

InterLutions said I-Care was developed by credit unions for credit unions. I-Care works with employee benefit specialists, which the CUSO said helps HR departments design and administer better employee health plans at lower costs by supplying data, intelligence and networking opportunities or credit unions to navigate what the company called "the ever-changing health care world."

“As more credit unions around the country join the I-Care community, the impact of this collaborative employee benefits resource only increases,” said Jesse Kohl, president of InterLutions. “We all work together, and as a result, I-Care continues to empower more credit unions with more healthcare know-how. We help credit unions provide superior benefit solutions that are so important to the credit union culture. I-Care’s goal is to help more and more credit unions provide the kind of benefits their employees deserve, while lowering the costs of providing those competitive benefit packages.”

According to Peter Stein, chief people officer of Educators Credit Union, “Through July, we saved about $383,000 over last year just for our medical plan. If you annualize it, that is about a $600,000 savings. We decided to go with I-Care not only for the cost savings, but also for the high level of benefits and consulting services. We can control our medical costs and design our plan based on staff needs. We are able to give our employees better benefits at a lower cost to them, and the transition was very easy.”

Launched in 2015, I-Care now provides benefit solutions to more than 3,000 people. In addition to offering benefit program alternatives, InterLutions said I-Care offers HR support services that help credit unions design and administer enhanced health programs via forums, conferences, webinars, workshops and one-on-one consulting. It also provides access to networking venues where members can share experiences and solutions to common benefit-management challenges.
