INDIANAPOLIS – A state judge refused to reduce a $300,000 bond for a repeat offender charged with the May 27 robbery of more than $250,000 from Industrial Centre FCU.
An attorney for the suspect, Stanley Wills, 30, told a state judge the bond should be reduced to $100,000 or less and maintained there was no evidence Wills would not show up for his trial, now set for Dec. 14.
But prosecutors urged the judge to consider Wills' seven convictions over the past 11 years, for crimes including robbery and battery. The Wills also faces trial next month in state court on arson and fraud charges. Prosecutors plans to ask jurors to declare Wills to be a habitual offender, which could add 30 years to his sentence, if he is convicted of the credit union robbery.
