WICHITA, Kan. Kansas credit unions, including seven in the Wichita area, gave away cash and gift cards yesterday, part of a “cash mob” staged as part of International Credit Union Month.
The credit unions held a separate cash mob in Mead’s Corner downtown in May.
At 9 a.m. Wednesday the credit unions began giving away $25 QuikTrip gift cards to the first 100 customers visiting the QuikTrip. A second event was held in the afternoon.
The seven Wichita area credit unions gave away gift cards and cash worth $5,500 between the two locations.
Statewide, 17 credit unions in 10 locations participated in the promotion and gave away $23,000, including: Central Star, Cessna Employees, EquiShare, Medical Community, Meritrust, Mid American and TECU.
