BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Dale Chidester, one of 13 Kellogg employees to pool their savings in 1941 to charter what became Kellogg Community FCU, has passed away at 99.
Chidester went on to serve as treasurer-manager of the credit union from its founding until 1973, when he was presented a Credit Union Service Award by the Michigan CU League. Since then the credit union has grown to almost $400 million in assets and 30,000 members.
Chidester also served as a director, vice president and secretary on the Michigan League, as a director to the CUNA board and CUNA International, and president of the Battle Creek Chapter.
He was inducted into the Michigan Credit Union Hall of Fame in 1967.
