MADISON, Wis. – Chuck Eikel, who spent more than 25 years as a staff writer/editor with CUNA Mutual Group and the son of CUNA Mutual founder and the company’s first president, Charles Eikel, passed away.

Eikel, 70, died due to complications due to Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Eikel, who worked for CUNA Mutual until 2002, was known for being among the most knowledgeable in the movement when it came to credit union history and was very active in the National CU Foundation’s Development Education program.
