SALT LAKE CITY – H. Floyd Tanner, chairman of the board of directors of Mountain America Credit Union for the past 16 years, passed away, the CU announced.
Tanner was a veteran of the credit union movement, serving on the board for a total of 39 years. He served in numerous capacities over the years, including 10 years on the Supervisory Committee. Tanner’s wife, Joyce, recently passed away.
The Credit Union Executives Society named Tanner the 2008 CUES Director of the Year. Highlights of his 39-year tenure at MACU include building more than 50 new branches and growing membership by 185%.

His dedication, wisdom and management have provided consistent direction to the credit union for over 39 years” said Sterling Nielsen, President/CEO of Mountain America. “Words cannot describe how much he will be missed. His dedication and selfless service to Mountain America Credit Union has been instrumental in making our credit union one of the best in the nation. Our hearts go out to his family as they suffer the loss of both parents in a very short period of time.”
