Longtime Oregon CU Figure Larry Queen Dies

SALEM, Ore. – Larry Queen, a well-known credit union executive for many years, died April 12 at 70.

Queen was senior executive at several Oregon credit unions during his career, including U-Lane-O CU (now Oregon Community CU) and State Employees CU, which in 2002 he merged into First Tech CU, from where he retired in 2008. During much of his credit union career he worked side by side with his wife, Lynda.

Queen was born in Topeka, Kan., and grew up in Ohio. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, before ending up in Oregon.

He was active in numerous credit union-backed charities, including Credit Unions for Kids and the Oregon Food Bank.
