LIVE OAK, Texas-Randolph-Brooks FCU (RBFCU) here used foursquare to spark donations to United Way in January, said Natalie Tate, public relations director at the $4.2-billion CU.
Members photographed themselves with RBFCU's mascot, then posted the photo as they checked-in at one of four selected branches, Tate explained. RBFCU returned the favor by donating $5 to United Way for every check-in with photo.
"During the Check-In for Charity promotion, we received more than 100 check-ins," she said. "We were able to add an additional $560 to our annual contributions. The best thing was seeing the power of social media used for social good."
