Mass Merger: Metro CU And Newton Municipal Join Forces

CHELSEA, Mass. — Metro Credit Union is welcoming members of Newton Municipal CU following the merger of the two institutions.

The $1.2 billion-asset Metro has switched all NMCU members over to its banking platform and has converted Newton's branch located at the Newton City Hall to a Metro facility.

Chartered in 1941, Newton Municipal CU had $10.8 million in assets and 1,052 members. Metro serves more than 170,000 members and was chartered in 1926.
