McClellan worked as president and CEO since 2005 and has served the central and east Alabama areas for 34 years, according to a Friday announcement from the $1.4 billion-asset credit union.

“I want to thank all of my colleagues and community partners for the outstanding job they have performed and the benefits I have learned from them,” McClellan said in a release. “The greatest asset for me was the people I worked with and everyone I served.”

MAX’s board of directors is in the process of naming an interim CEO.

“MAX has grown and become a treasured community partner, expanding into business lending, business leasing, and insurance services during his time as CEO,” Keivan Deravi, MAX’s chairman, said in the release.
