SEWICKLEY, Penn.– Members of PA HealthCare CU were lining up for the last few weeks to get in on the credit union's "Crazy 8s" special, an 8% CD--which commenced at 8:08 am on 8-8-8.
The "Crazy 8s" CD is only available on 8-8-8 for 8 hours, 8 minutes and 8 seconds.
And for the next 8 days, the $22 million credit union is also offering a 2.88% rate for a three-month CD and a 3.88% for 12 months.
On the loan side, for the next 88 days it dangling a five-year auto loan for 2008 model or new model years at 3.88% and a five-year home equity loan also at 3.88%.
Paul Fero, president of PA HealthCare, reported that he has seen more than 10% of credit union membership pre-register for the 8% CD, and an overall 1% increase in membership in the month since announcing it would offer the CD.
