Merger Creates Iowa’s Fifth Largest CU

BETENDORF, Iowa – Ascentra CU announced it has agreed to merger with the smaller Members Choice Community CU in Clinton, creating a $245 million credit union, the state’s fifth largest.

The combination has been approved by state regulators and is expected to take about five months to complete.

Ascentra CU, with more than $190 million in assets, was known until 2007 as Alcoa Employees & Community CU. Members Choice Community CU, with more than $50 million, was formerly Clinco Community CU.
