CHICOPEE, Mass. – Polish National CU last week announced it has applied to combine with Valley Stone CU in nearby Wilbraham to create a $480-million credit union – which would be one of the largest in western Massachusetts.

The deal has been approved by both boards and is awaiting NCUA clearance.
Polish National was chartered in 1921 and has 18,000 members and almost $420 million in assets. Valley Stone CU was chartered in 1937 as Monsanto CU and has approximately $60 million in assets.
