Minnesota CU Robber Confesses To Five Other Heists

ST. PAUL, Minn. – A man sentenced Monday for last October’s robbery at Wakota FCU has admitted committing  five other bank robberies as well as one attempted robbery.

Steven Olson, 48, admitted to stealing $1,514 from the credit union, shortly before 5 p.m. Oct. 30, 2009.

A bystander reported his location to police, who pursued him for about two miles and then apprehended him following a short foot chase. Among items found during a search of Olson's vehicle were loose bills and a bill wrapper from the First State Bank of Rosemount, which was robbed nine days before.

Olson was sentenced to 5 years in prison on one count of credit union robbery, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
