Many of the participating credit unions applied for matching funds through the CO-OP Miracle Match program from CO-OP Financial Services, which could bring the credit union industry’s total contribution to Miracle Jeans Day 2012 to a higher figure by year’s end, according to the company.

In 2012, credit unions will account for about 30% of all funds raised through Miracle Jeans Day.

This is the fourth year that CMN Hospitals, the charity of choice of the credit union industry, has conducted Miracle Jeans Day. In 2012, 535 credit unions participated, up 269% compared to the 145 credit unions in 2009. The estimated $225,000 raised in 2012 is a 325% increase compared to the $53,000 raised in 2009. In four years, Miracle Jeans Day has raised $641,000 for CMN Hospitals.
