Colorado Credit Union doesn't just embrace the credit union credo of "people helping people," it takes it a step further.

"Our philosophy is to 'spoil the member' by treating our members with exemplary service and respect, which also includes our employees," said Colorado CU Director of Marketing Mary Ann Schlung.

To ensure employees' spirits are high and that they are continually inspired, the CU offers a host of on-site and off-site activities, including an employee favorite: a day at a Rockies baseball game.

"We also have nature walks, dog park days, continued education with all day staff trainings, leadership training and management training," said Schlung, adding that these offerings were born from internal employee surveys first introduced in 2014. "We also provide health insurance to all employees, along with time off when sick and paid vacations."

Employees often tell Schlung how much they enjoy working at CCU, especially the work-life balance that is offered. One employee joined the team after 17 years in the credit union industry. Schlung relayed that the selling points for this employee was that management, including CEO Mike Williams, was "approachable and encouraging" and that the credit union promotes from within its own ranks.

"We work hard to maintain a positive work-life balance for our employees as well as an open-door policy to hear their concerns and/or suggestions," said Schlung. "We believe in providing an environment for our employees to grow and advance in their careers."

Founded in 1973, Colorado Credit Union currently operates four branches and serves more than 13,000 members.
