WASHINGTON Mortgage rates moved higher this week as Treasury rates trended higher last week, according to Freddie Mac.
The average for the 30-year loan increased to 3.53%, its highest since last September, from 3.42% last week. The average for the 15-year mortgage rose too, to 2.81%, from 2.71%.
The move comes as Treasury rates moved higher, with the 30-year Treasury bond yield at 3.197% at day-end Wednesday, up from 3.028% a week earlier.
ARM rates also rose, with the average for the five-year ARM edging up to 2.70%, from 2.67% last week; and the average for the one-year ARM creeping up to 2.59%, from 2.57%.
