Mortgages Rates End Slide, Tick Upward

WASHINGTON – Rates on most mortgages moved higher this week after five weeks of decline, following long-term bond yields that rose after an upbeat employment report.

The average for the five-year, fixed-rate loan rose to 4.81% this week, from a 30-year-low of 4.71% last week; and the average for the 15-year, fixed-rate mortgage moved to 4.32%, from 4.27%, according to Freddie Mac.

ARM rates were mixed, with the five-year ARM rising to 4.26%, from 4.19%; and the average for the one-year ARM inching down to 4.24%, from 4.25% last week.
