WESTLAND, Mich. – Drivers yesterday waited patiently in line at a local Mobil station and a BP station in Dearborn to fill up their tanks at a 25-cents-a-gallon discount, courtesy of Livonia-based Co-op Services CU.

The gas special allowed motorists to buy up to 30 gallons at the discounted price, $3.55 for regular.
Co-op Services paid more than $1,000 to cover Thursday’s gas discounts on 4,000 gallons – one of six “gas giveaway” events in southeast Michigan communities the credit union serves. Similar promotions will be held in Dearborn, Livonia, Melvindale, Walled Lake and in Riverview.
