Municipal Credit Union in New York has received compliance certification for its data security systems.
The $2.2 billion-asset MCU received full Payment Card Industry certification, based on PCI Data Security Standard compliance, related to account management, issuing and ATMs.
Retailers should be urged to follow the example of financial institutions like MCU, which have upgraded their data security standards, Kam Wong, chief executive of MCU, said in a news release.
MCU received its certification from Fortrex Technologies, a PCI Security Standards Council-approved firm.
