HINESVILLE, Ga. – Navy FCU, recently approved to serve the Army and Air Force, opened a new branch outside Fort Stewart, the credit union giant’s first at an Army base.
The Fort Stewart Branch will serve personnel assigned to Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield and their families. The credit union used billboards, direct mail postcards, radio announcements and newspaper advertisements to publicize news of the new branch.
The $35 billion credit union, which opened 30 new branches last year, has opened three so far this year and plans as many as 18 more for 2008.
The world’s largest credit union has kept a steady course throughout the economic turmoil of the past 12 months. It has grown 16% over the past year to $34.7 billion and recorded net income of $151.9 million for the first six months of the year.
