JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A member of Navy FCU on Wednesday was sentenced to four years in prison after she pleaded guilty to bank fraud in an identity theft scheme that siphoned more than $180,000 from the credit union.

Brittany Jones, 26, opened more than 50 fraudulent credit union accounts using the identities of others and claiming to be a member of the military. She then deposited bogus checks into the accounts and then quickly took out the cash.
Jones pleaded guilty to charges of conspiring to commit bank fraud, three counts of bank fraud and aggravated identity theft. She was ordered to pay more than $180,000 in restitution.
