NCUA Approves Broad Community Charter For Richmond, Va.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The NCUA Board yesterday approved a request from Peoples Advantage FCU to expand its community charter to cover 1.2 million people in metropolitan Richmond, Va.

The $53-million credit union, chartered to serve employees of Allied Signal, currently covers four counties and three cities in the vicinity of Richmond.

The NCUA Board also issued for comment a proposed rule to allow federal credit unions to create and fund charitable donation accounts to facilitate charitable activities by credit unions.

The Board also approved minor amendments to its fixed-assets rule.
