GREEN RIVER, Wyo. – NCUA said yesterday it approved a request from Trona Valley Community FCU to add six counties, including four in neighboring Utah, to its field of membership.
The $150 million credit union, chartered in 1963 to serve trona ore mine workers in southwest Wyoming at FMC Corp., had already served four surrounding Wyoming counties; Sweetwater, Lincoln, Sublette and Uinta. Trona ore is used to make soda ash, which is a component in making products such as glass, laundry detergent, and baking soda. FMC Corp. is the largest producer of trona ore in the world.
The expanded FOM will allow the region’s biggest credit union to also serve Wyoming’s Carbon and Teton counties, and Utah’s Summit, Rich, Morgan or Daggett counties.
The credit union is headquartered at Hitching Post Dr. in Green River.
