Hunt has been special assistant to the director of the office since June, and had been acting director of the office before that, replacing long-time director Kent Buckham in a shake-up of the operation last November as the troubles in the agency’s corporate oversight problem came to the fore. Later, NCUA took over the nation's two largest corporate credit unions, U.S. Central FCU and WesCorp., which it has been running under conservatorship since March 20.

Hunt joined NCUA in 1989 and has served in a variety of capacities, including as an examiner, associate Regional Director and Senior Investment Officer in the Office of Capital Markets.
