WASHINGTON – The White House this afternoon withdrew the nomination of Washington credit union manager Carla Leon-Decker to the NCUA Board.
Leon-Decker’s nomination to the three-person panel has languished since it was sent to the Senate Banking Committee in October, as questions about financial troubles at her credit union have persisted.
Leon-Decker, the president of $48 million D.C. Government Employees FCU, would have succeeded Gigi Hyland, whose six-year-term on the panel expired in August. Hyland has been serving as a so-called holdover since then.
During that time the Senate committee has yet to hold a hearing on the nomination, a sign that the appointment was in trouble.
