ALEXANDRIA, Va. – NCUA, which approved only 27 underserved expansions last year, okayed five for the month of February, including several large ones.
February’s actions will allow: Fort Bragg FCU in Fort Bragg, N.C., to serve almost 200,000 residents in surrounding communities; Sun FCU, Philadelphia, to add 110,000 in adjacent Berks County; and, Redstone FCU, Athens, Ala., to serve 40,000 low-income residents in Madison and Limestone counties in Alabama.
Also approved were requests by: NARFE Premier FCU in King George, Va., to serve 14,000 people in King George County; and, Kearney-Eaton Employees FCU in Lexington, Neb., to add 24,000 people in low-income portions of Dawson County to its field of membership.
