NCUF Calls on Credit Unions to Help Fund Season 6 of Biz Kid$

The National Credit Union Foundation is calling for funds to support season six of Biz Kid$, a credit union-funded national public television series.

NCUF seeks to raise $1.1 million from credit unions to fund and sponsor the episodes that are scheduled to air in 2017, the Foundation said in a news release Wednesday.

The Emmy Award-winning Biz Kid$ teaches money management and entrepreneurship to students in elementary school through high school. The show has reached more than 77 million viewers since it launched in 2008. During that time, about 300 credit unions and affiliates nationwide have helped fund the series with more than $14 million in donations.

NCUF Executive Director Gigi Hyland said Biz Kids$ helps to create awareness of credit unions and maintain their leadership in financial education for children.

"We know that credit unions believe in youth financial education as much as we do at the foundation," Hyland said in the release. "Funding this new season of Biz Kid$ is a great opportunity to take this tremendous resource to the next level."

NCUF's call to fund season six comes after the Foundation announced last week that it would provide 14 new grants totaling $75,200 to help fund the series and financial education outreach programs.
