OMAHA — The Nebraska Credit Union League (NCUL) said it has partnered with the National Credit Union Foundation, the U.S. credit union community's 501c (3) charitable organization, to form the Credit Union Foundation of Nebraska (CUFN).
CUFN will be jointly operated by the NCUL and the national foundation, with funding provided by various organizations and individuals.
CUFN will seek to promote the idea of "people helping people" by providing the Nebraska credit union community with grants and other financial assistance designed to be used by credit unions to deliver adult and youth financial education, enhance member services, train staff and volunteers and assist those impacted by natural disasters.
"Investing in the Credit Union Foundation of Nebraska is investing in the future of Nebraska credit unions. It helps increase the ability of Nebraska credit unions to serve their members and their communities," said Nebraska league President Scott Sullivan in a statement.
Specifically, CUFN will help local credit unions to: teach critical financial skills to adults, youth and children; enhance member service with new technologies and initiatives; provide staff and volunteers with training opportunities and distribute relief funds to those impacted by natural disasters.
