MANSFIELD, Texas A troubled member of Neighborhood CU got a post-Christmas surprise Friday when she was awarded the credit union’s quarterly $25,000 savings sweepstakes winner.

The prize comes as Cheryl Haynes is recovering from a year when bills were piling up and she suffered the loss of her mother, uncle and best friend. She said she was worried she might have to sell her home, and all the memories they made there, just to get by.
Haynes, a member of the credit union since 1978, was surprised Friday morning when credit union officials drove 60 miles to her Sherman home to present her with the prize.
