DALLAS – Neighborhood CU announced the launch of a new partnership with the Mexican Consulate in Dallas to serve thousands of Mexican immigrants in North Texas.
The credit union on Friday said it will open savings and checking accounts and provide secure, affordable wire services to any financial institution in Mexico to North Texans who present either a Mexican passport or Matricula Consular card.
“We are pleased to be working with the Mexican Consulate to make it safe and far more affordable for hard-working people in North Texas to send money home to their families in Mexico,” said Chet Kimmell, president the $250 million credit union. “We are even more excited about the longer-term benefits that are possible when someone opens a savings and checking account and begins to build a more solid financial foundation for the future.”
“This partnership between all institutions involved was natural, considering that we all share the same philosophy of ‘people helping people’ for the benefit of the Hispanic community in this region,” said Mexican General Consul Juan Carlos Cue Vega.
Under the program, Neighborhood CU will offer financial services one day each week at the Mexican Consulate, near Love Field Airport.
