Hawthorne Adds Mobile Banking

NAPERVILLE, Ill.-Hawthorne CU is now offering free mobile banking services.

The credit union said the service can be accesed from any web-enabled phone by typing m.ehawthorne.org into the mobile browser. Hawthorne said no separate sign-up is required, as members can use the same multi-factor authentication process they use for their regular online accounts.

 

Eaton Family CU Goes Mobile

EUCLID, Ohio-Eaton Family CU has launched an entire suite of mobile applications for web-enabled cell phones.

Once downloaded, these applications allow a member to view account balances, see recent history, search account activity, transfer funds and find shared branch locations from their cell phones.

Kinecta Promotes E-Statements

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif.-To promote electronic statements as the environmentally correct thing to do, Kinecta made a donation to have a tree planted in the Brazilian Rain Forest every time a member signed up for e-statements.

The credit union's goal for the campaign, which was dubbed "You save a statement. We plant a tree," was to donate 1,000 trees through the Nature Conservancy.

 

AFCU Offers Skip-A-Payment Feature

LA HABRA, Calif.-In an effort to help members who might need a little extra cash in their pockets this holiday season, American First Credit Union is offering a Skip-a-Payment feature on current member loans in good standing. The Skip-a-Payment program allows members the flexibility to miss their December loan payment without penalty, and make up that payment at the end of the loan term. Additionally, the CU is also waiving the normal $25 Skip-a-Payment fee. The Skip-a-Payment feature is available on the following existing loans: vehicle, personal, line of credit, home equity line of credit, savings-secured loan.

 

CU Intro's Anywhere Deposit

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-New Mexico Educators FCU now its members online check deposit service from their home, office, or any location with secure Internet access.

Anywhere Deposit is compatible with most computer scanners and can be used with any personal checking account at the CU, NMEFCU said, noting the program saves members the time previously spent visiting a branch office or making an ATM deposit.

 

Charter Oak Teams With Grocer

GROTON, Conn.-Charter Oak FCU has teamed up with Tri-Town Foods to promote the CU's online bill pay product. The "Paying Bills is a Piece of Cake" promotion rewarding new users of the service with a $100 Tri-Town gift card.

To get current users as excited about the program as new users, both new and current users of online bill pay were also entered to win a Tri-Town Foods shopping spree.

 

GNO Offers Payday Loan Alternative

METAIRIE, La.-Greater New Orleans Federal Credit Union (GNOFCU) recently introduced a new program for members whose financial futures may be dangling without any sense of security-Safety Net Solutions.

This program provides members with two products: Safety Net Advance and Safety Net Savings. Developed as a payday loan alternative, the program delivers additional safety features separating it from the financial pitfalls of conventional payday loans.

The idea, the credit union said, is to help members break away from the payday loan cycle and build good credit that will help them build wealth.

The maximum Safety Net Advance allowed is $300 with a 30-day repayment term. After three months, participant must complete a BALANCE Financial Fitness training module to continue to participate in the Safety Net Solutions Program.

With each cash advance, a total of 10% will be automatically deposited in a savings account. Once $500 is accrued, GNOFCU will release $250 for withdrawal. This savings account does earn interest, but ATM access is not allowed.
