Dwyer will succeed David Bard, CEO since 1986, who is retiring in January as head of the $740 million credit union.

Dwyer, who has been with the credit union since 1987, became president and COO in 2006. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont and his MBA from Rensselaer. A CPA, he began his career with KPMG in Boston.

Bard grew the credit union from $48 million in assets and 30 employees working at a single branch, to 170 employees and seven branches in six counties.
