ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – John Thompson, president of U.S New Mexico FCU from 1979 to 2000, and who served on the boards of both CUNA and NAFCU, passed away on May 8.
Thompson built the credit union from $15 million in assets to more than $260 million, and its membership from 9,400 to more than 35,000.
He served on the boards of NAFCU, CUNA, Southwest Corporate FCU and as president of the New Mexico CU League.
