ALBANY, N.Y. – SEFCU, which has donated 157,000 trees to help rebuild the storm-ravaged neighborhoods of upstate New York, has raised the branch, so to speak, by pledging to give the state’s Arbor Day Foundation one tree to plant for each new member who joins the credit union this year.

SEFCU also will distribute more than 100,000 trees through an online giveaway to New York-based nonprofit groups starting June 15.
The $1.5 billion credit union already has donated 156,844 trees on behalf of current members. Of those trees, 50,000 were distributed by Western New York AmeriCorps.
