Member To Meet Carrie Underwood

RIVERSIDE, Calif.-One lucky member of Altura CU got the chance to meet Grammy-award winning country music singer Carrie Underwood at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival held earlier this month in Indio after winning the grand prize in an Altura debit card sweepstakes. Miriam Blum won tickets for herself and a guest to attend the two-day Stagecoach Country Music Festival, including backstage passes to meet Underwood. As an added treat, she also met the members of Rascal Flatts while backstage. Blum won the passes simply by registering and then using her Altura Visa debit card to make purchases. Once Altura members registered their card, every time they swiped it to make a purchase they were entered to win. More than 13,000 people registered their cards.

CU Pays Cash To 'Buckle Up'

LARGO, Md.-Representatives of Prince George's FCU and local police are handing out $1 bills today to drivers who have all occupants buckled up as part of the "Click It or Ticket" Safety campaign.

The credit union is donating the cash and is partnering with the MVA, the Maryland State Highway Administration and Prince George's County Police.

The program is aimed at drawing attention to the value of seatbelt use in the county with the state's highest highway fatality rate. The State Highway Administration said almost 620 people died in motor vehicle crashes in the county from 2004 to 2008.
