CU Changes Name To Defense Electronics FCU
MONTGOMERYVILLE, Penn.–BAE Systems FCU here has changed its name to Defense Electronics FCU, while in Sylvania, Ohio, Directions Credit Union has been chosen as the new name for the entity created by the merger of Toleda Area Community CU and Erie Shores CU.
Pre-Med Student Wins Tinker’s Video Contest
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.–Chase Vincent, a pre-med student at Oklahoma State University, was named winner of Tinker FCU’s video contest, which asked, “What does money mean to me.” Vincent outlined in his video what money means to him as he studies to become a chiropractor. Winners in the various brackets received iTunes gift cards.

CUNA Mutual Group Expands European Ops
DUBLIN, Ireland–CUNA Mutual Group’s International Division has expanded its European operations with a new headquarters here. Ireland’s Minister for Innovation Policy Michael Ahern officially opened CUNA Mutual’s new office. CUNA Mutual, which has played a pivotal role in the founding of CUs in Europe, also has operations in Canada, Australia, Korea and Latin America.
WYCUP Scholarship Deadline Approaching
MADISON, Wis.–The deadline for World Council of Credit Unions’ (WOCCU) Young Credit Union People (WYCUP) Scholarship Program is June 2. Winners qualify for an all-expenses-paid trip to WOCCU’s 2009 World Credit Union Conference in Barcelona, Spain. To be eligible for the scholarship, nominees must: 1) be sponsored by their credit union or credit union organization to attend WOCCU’s 2008 World Credit Union Conference in Hong Kong in July; 2) be 35 years of age or younger as of Jan. 1, 2008; and 3) submit a completed nomination form with all the necessary supporting materials to WOCCU no later than June 2, 2008.
