NIHFCU Charges Up EV Pilot

ROCKVILLE, Md.-The National Institutes of Health Federal Credit Union is launching a pilot program allowing NIH commuters who own electric vehicles to charge their cars while at work. The $562-million CU is underwriting the cost of the energy use in an effort to help reduce fossil fuel consumption and pollution. The charging stations will be free during the pilot. The CU's core sponsor, NIH, plans to open charging stations at other locations in the future by allowing commuters to pay for the energy their cars use to recharge.
