The CU’s current acronym name stands for Northern Massachusetts Telephone Workers, reflecting its original core sponsor when it was chartered in 1922. But in 2005, the CU converted a community charter and has since determined it needed a name more in line with its expanded field of membership.
The credit union is working with Danvers, Mass.-based Single Source Marketing on the launch of its new name and brand. Although the official launch of the name is not until September, the credit union already has begun the transition process.
