Non-CU Person Sought For NCUF Board

Seeking a broader perspective, the National Credit Union Foundation is looking to add a board member from outside credit unions.

"This at-large seat is, in my opinion, designed to bring an outside perspective to the National Credit Union Foundation," explained Executive Director Steve Delfin. "I have been here a year now, and one of the reasons I was brought in was to leverage outside resources. It would be helpful to have the perspective of someone who has been in fundraising or who has been a part of the broader philanthropic community. I would be very pleased if we were able to draw some candidates from those communities."

To spread the word, the foundation has distributed press releases to trade publications that include the Chronicle of Philanthropy and NonProfit Times. Delfin, who has 20 years of experience in philanthropic and corporate citizenship programs, is also reaching out to his contacts to fill the at-large board seat, which is currently vacant.

"The type of person I would like would be someone who is the head of another foundation or who has worked for another large charitable foundation that has experience in serving the underserved or at-risk communities," he said.

Although the NCUF is seeking applications by Nov. 11, Delfin said the deadline will be extended if necessary. The chosen nominee will earn a term of one-to-three years and will be expected to attend the three board meetings each year, one of which is a planning meeting.
