RALEIGH, N.C. – State Employees’ CU, which invested $1.6 billion in state-backed loans to finance student lending, pledged another $25 million to the effort.
The funding has helped the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority and College Foundation make education loans available to North Carolina students and parents.
The two non-profit financial organizations are also in the planning stages for credit union to help families with questions on completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Students and parents must complete the FAFSA form to be considered for federal and state aid for college.
SECU will help CFNC and the North Carolina Association of Financial Aid Administrators offer FAFSA Day at sites across the state in February 2010.
