North Dakota Governor Appoints Credit Union CEO to State Board

Longtime credit union leader Deb Gallagher has been appointed by North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple to a five-year term on the North Dakota State CU Board.

The president and chief executive of Capital Credit Union in Bismarck since 1994, Gallagher's term began on July 1, according to a Thursday press release from the Credit Union Association of the Dakotas.

The North Dakota State Credit Union Board consists of the commissioner of the Department of Financial Institutions and four governor-appointed members. Three members of the board must have at least five years of experience as an officer, directors or committee member of a state-chartered credit union and one must be a lay member from the public.

Gallagher got her start in the industry with Capital Credit Union in Bismarck in 1974.

She is a member of the Credit Union Executives Society and served for 15 years as a director for the Midwest Corporate Federal Credit Union, also in Bismarck.

Gallagher joins current board members Paul Brucker, president of Railway Credit Union in Mandan; Melanie Stillwell, president of Western Cooperative Credit Union in Williston; and George Economon, a lay member from Fargo.
