The 2.5-billion credit union recently opened a business checking account for GG's Frozen Treats, a local gelato and sorbet company owned by 14-year-old Grayson Albers, making him the youngest business account-holding member of the CU, Northwest said.

Albers started small, selling lemon sorbet at his sister Gretchen's lemonade stand. But the business quickly grew to include a website and a menu of flavors, some of it being sold at the Ashburn Wine Shop, Carolina Brothers BBQ and the Wine'ing Butcher.

The young entrepreneur's family has belonged to the CU for quite some time, Northwest said, and Albers came to the credit union only after having studiedNorthwest's products and services and obtaining all the necessary paperwork from the IRS and the state.

Northwest set Albers up with a basic business checking account, which requires no monthly maintenance fee and offers remote deposit capture: a key ingredient for Albers, who still isn't old enough to drive.
