NYIB Named As Winner of 2011 Herb Wegner Award

WASHINGTON – The National Credit Union Foundation has named the first of the 2011 Herb Wegner Memorial Award winners: The National Youth Involvement Board (NYIB).

The NYIB, which oversees a volunteer network of credit union youth advocates who bring financial education and understanding of credit unions to America's young people, is being recognized in the Outstanding Organization category.

According to the NCUF, during the past 38 years more than 100 volunteers have led the NYIB network of more than 700 advocates for financial literacy and services for younger members and who are devoted to youth outreach and education. It is estimated that more than 2.5 million young people have been reached by NYIB reps.

The award will be presented at the Herb Wegner Awards Dinner on Feb. 28, 2011.
