William L. Spearman, CEO of Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, was named 2004 Professional of the Year among credit unions with more than $50 million in assets at the New York State CU League's annual convention in Saratoga Springs.
Under Spearman's leadership last year Mid-Hudson Valley celebrated its first full year as a community credit union serving Ulster, Orange and Dutchess counties by opening its sixth full-service branch, forming an underserved committee to extend service to all socioeconomic segments, establishing a business services department to serve the commercial needs of small to medium-sized area businesses, and tripling the community relations budget to support programs and organizations that enrich the community through health and human services, arts and culture, and environmental stewardship
"I was immensely gratified at this statewide recognition," said Spearman, "but I couldn't have earned this award without the support of both the board of directors and my staff. This honor reflects the hard work of the entire credit union team."
