NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Old Hickory CU has filed a claim in court against the estate of Steve McNair seeking $43,000 to pay off a loan on a Cadillac Escalade the football start bought for his girlfriend, who later killed him and herself.
Documents filed in court this week show the former Tennessee Titans quarterback and Sahel Kazemi jointly purchased a 2007 Escalade on May 7.
About two months later the couple were stopped in that same vehicle while driving in downtown Nashville. Kazemi was taken to jail and charged with driving under the influence, and McNair later bailed her out. Two days later, in the early hours of July 4, she shot McNair, likely as he was sleeping, before turning the gun on herself.
Other claims against his roughly $19.6 million estate have included an outstanding credit card bill, late payments on an apartment McNair co-signed that was lived in by a 26-year-old woman, and claims from his two oldest children from previous relationships.
McNair did not leave a will.
