BETHALTO, Ill. – Olin Community CU announced a new name and brand starting Oct. 1 for the $430 million credit union: 1st MidAmerica CU.
The credit union was chartered in 1934 by 35 charter members of the Western Cartridge Co. and Equitable Power Manufacturing Co. It went through a series of acquisitions, becoming the Olin Employees CU in 1954 and then Olin Community CU in 1998.
It now serves residents of Jersey, Greene, Macoupin, Calhoun, Fayette, Montgomery, Madison and Bond counties.
Credit union members are being alerted to the new name, and the new logo will be installed on all-new signage within days of the name change.
