"One Team, One Vision, One Goal" and "I'm the Bomb.com" are among the many t-shirt slogans proudly worn by employees at Omni Community Credit Union's annual Team Enrichment Day.
"This day is about betterment of all team members," said Omni Community CU's Human Resources Manager Patty Neff. "A happy and well team member is a happy and well person."
After 90 days of employment, every employee is introduced to the FISH! Philosophy. Neff explained that FISH! "promotes passion, being there, play and making their day."
The program has grown to include a leadership program, LeaderFISH! Aspects of the program include internal job shadowing and a Young Leaders Lunch Group. Employees can also tap into the CU's internal social network, CU Social.
"We love to post announcements, recognition and share our personal news on CU Social," said Neff.
Omni's inclusionary approach to membership is paying off. In 2015, there were 29 position openings, 24 of which were filled from within the organization. Neff noted that's an 83% retention success rate.
"Our current leadership team consists of 32 leaders; 26 of those leaders or 81% were internal promotions," said Neff. "I'm sure many of our job-shadowing participants are included in the internal promotion percentages."
Founded in 1951, the CU currently operates eight branches serving more than 33,000 members.
